This past week has been an incredible experience wandering our way throughout the Rockies.

When we left Ridgway on our way to see Brian and Jill we stopped in Carbondale, CO. We went for a quick two-mile hike just outside of Carbondale. There was a campsite there, which was nice, but we decided to stay at the KOA just outside of town to get showers before going out with our friends. You’re welcome Brian.
The hike was hot but quick and we both were wishing we were on mountain bikes because it was a really great singletrack mountain bike trail. Going into town was very well-kept farmland. Carbondale must have a ton of money!

After finishing the hike, we went into town to have some dinner. We ate at a local restaurant called the Brass Anvil. It was pretty yummy but a little rough around the edges. Michael’s cooking is much better.

The next morning Michael showered but I didn’t, I was going to go swimming instead. I got to a local recreation center exactly when the lap pool was closing. I waited an hour in the play pool, swimming against the lazy river current and vertical kicking in the deep end before the lap pool reopened to get thirty minutes in.
After the pool and my shower, we went to a place called Corsica to have a glass or two of wine. Then we went to its sister restaurant, Barcelona, to have tapas and more wine with Michael’s college buddy, Brian. We had a great night; I had too much to drink and not enough food and water! We wandered our way to our campsite.
The next morning, we played in the water with Sebastian and got haircuts.

We met my friend Jill and her husband Chris for dinner at an Indian restaurant called Saffron Indian Fusion Flair near Littleton, CO. It was amazing to see Jill again, even for a short while. We camped at Chatfield State Park. It was lovely, I was smiling all evening and the next day just remembering how much I like being around Jill.

During this part of the trip, my good friend Joe became a grandfather. I asked for a picture. Hopefully by publishing time I will have one. (Made it!)

Ater Chatfield, we headed to Blue Mesa. The trip to Blue Mesa was a bit harrowing. There were scattered thundershowers and at times the rain hit the car so hard you couldn’t hear yourself think. We were supposed to take a tram at Monarch pass…it was closed, but the summit was beautiful. We made it to our campsite in time for the rain to stop. We had a lovely meal and packed up everything before the night in case it rained and also, we had a one-hour drive to church.
We went to church at St. Mary’s in Montrose, CO.

Then we were headed to Bedrock, CO. This trip took us through Ridgway again and Sebastian and I played in the park we called home for a week while Michael had his Mozdy family call. After Ridgway, we had zero cell reception. Bedrock, town of Colorado, was a historic corner store for sale and a post office the size of two outhouses. It was beautiful there. We said at a BLM campground which had a shelter and picnic bench.

Next Up We are travelling across Utah and Nevada to get to the bay area to visit my high school friend, Lisa and my Aunt Lucy.
